About
Welcome to Ole Greeley Cottage, a charming, classic Maine cottage with stunning ocean views over Merriconeag Sound. You'll love waking up to the sights and sounds of the ocean, exploring Harpswell and the surrounding towns and retreating to the cottage to catch the gorgeous Bailey Island sunset paint the sky with red, orange and purple from the wrap-around covered porch. Don't miss the opportunity to dine al fresco on the water's edge at the outdoor picnic table that seats 8, and a two person bistro set.
Inside the cottage you'll find an open concept kitchen, living, and dining area with many windows and a sliding glass door opening to the ocean and covered porch. The kitchen offers a farmhouse sink, large retro refrigerator, gas range, microwave and all the cooking/dining ware needed to prepare and enjoy a delicious homecooked meal. The dining table seats 4-6 and the living room offers a large leather sofa and two wicker chairs, the perfect spot to read a book, play a game, or delight in conversation with friends. The owners have shared with guests a broad collection of books, puzzles, and board games, inviting all to relax and enjoy the slow-pace of island life.
Located on Garrison Cove Road on Bailey Island, guests will love the ability to walk to Cook's Lobster & Ale House just down the road, as well as Cook's Wharf offering lobster fresh off the boat. Step off the dock onto the Schooner Alert for a sunset cruise around the islands or watch the lobstermen and sailboats cruise by from the porch. The cottage is also just a short walk/drive away from Cedar Beach, The Bailey Island General Store, Fishnet Cafe, Land's End Gift Shop, Sundrenched restaurant, Historic Cribstone Bridge, Salt Cod Cafe, H2Outfitters for kayak rentals/tours, and so much more!
Come to Ole Greeley Cottage and enjoy all Bailey Island and Harpswell have to offer. We're sure it will beckon you back for years to come!
Ole Greeley Cottage is pet-friendly (2 maximum, well behaved), a non-refundable pet fee does apply.
Please note - Although recently renovated/updated, the cottage was originally built in the early 1900's and the interior walls dividing the bedrooms are thin/not insulated, allowing sound to travel more easily than a modern home. Also, the primary bedroom has a custom headboard that is open to the stairs to the first floor. We hope this information is helpful as you prepare for your stay at this charming cottage!

Perfect Maine Getaway
J & T, Charlotte, NC USA
Ole Greeley Cottage was perfect for the two of us. It was cozy but had everything we needed and more! We hit all the local restaurants at least once, and visited all of the islands “spots”. But on our rainy day, we lounged on the huge couch with perfect ever-changing views of the water in the comfort of the cottage. Love this place! We would definitely stay here again!

Dreaming of Greeley
Virginia K., West Simsbury, CT United States
Ole Greeley cottage is truly a dream! The cottage itself has the perfect balance of feeling like a typical coastal cottage while being modern and fresh. The energy of the space is calming, especially as it creates an indoor outdoor space when opening the doors to let in the ocean breeze. I came here with my husband and two year old and we could not have been set up for a better vacation than we were here. The property has toddler engagement factors (picnic table, swing, beach access, tub, etc) along with safety factors (locks are up high on all doors to the outside, extra railings on the stairs, etc.). The location could not be better! Imagine pushing your child on the swing while you look over the ocean, ducks passing by, ocean wind in your hair! Cooks is not even a 5 minute walk so very accessible to walk to, and despite being close, we never got the sense it was too busy or loud (which had been a concern for us).
It is so clear the care and love that has gone into this property, from the beautiful gardens, to the comfortable beds and pillows, to having fans for guests etc. it truly is an exquisite find!
Perfect getaway for a small family or just a couple looking for some time away from it all
Bryan
This cottage is the perfect getaway for a small family or just a couple looking for some time away from it all. The island offers the perfect amount of isolation from daily life. An amazing view of the water with the chance to get wet, if you can handle the cold! The cottage itself has everything you'll need. A well sized kitchen to cook a relaxing family dinner or breakfast, with all the tools you'll need. The bedrooms have a very lofty vibe, and the common space is perfect for a game night. While a great place to disconnect, you're just a short walk from some great town offerings. Be sure to embrace a night of relaxation and get dinner at Cook's, less than a 5-minute walk. In the mornings send the early bird for coffee and THE WORLDS greatest scones, maybe a 10-minute walk over the bridge. 10 out of 10 would stay again!
Perfect place to stay for a summer getaway
Elliott
An idyllic Maine cottage - this was a perfect place to stay for a summer getaway. Cozy and comfortable on a rainy day, and breezy and extra-spacious on a sunny day. The stairway from the lawn down to the water was an extra treat.
Fairy tale by the sea
Dexter
I have had the great privilege of staying at the ‘Ol’ Greeley Cottage’ many times now. It is a difficult place to describe, due to the infinite layers of beauty it beholds. Though if I had to, I would explain it is a fairy tale by the sea. It is skipping rocks, standing ankle deep in floating seaweed clusters. It is cracking into lobster, fresh off the stove; fresh off the dock; fresh off the boat, on the back porch sipping blueberry wine as the sun dips below the horizon. It is waking up and walking across the bridge for scones and coffee. The coffee is really good. The scones are the kind of scones you want served fresh, to you and all your guests, at brunch after your wedding… It is quiet and epic and magic through and through. Like many of the best things in life, staying at Ol’ Greeley is an involved and embodied experience. It is intense in its beauty, in its calm and in its thunderstorms. It is a dreamy escape, deserving of the stewardship of anyone fortunate enough to be a guest. I hope to return soon and many times over thereafter.
Peaceful, beautiful, and rejuvenating
Peter
This location on Bailey Island is peaceful, beautiful, and rejuvenating. I am not being hyperbolic when I say I daydream about returning to this cottage. The home is cozy, the island is very walkable, and the views are great. It’s great to just sit out on the deck and watch the quiet colors of sunset with the calm waves as a soundtrack.
Perfect place
Eliza
This cottage was the perfect place for myself, my husband, and our toddler to enjoy a long weekend. The view of the water was gorgeous and we enjoyed dinners on the deck at sunset. We were walking distance both to the restaurant and to a small cove where my daughter could wade in the water. The cottage was cozy and had lots of books and games available for a rainy day. We will definitely be back!
It was a dream
Loni
We were lucky enough to stay at the cottage for July 4th weekend and also had the best weather ever. The view of the water and sunset couldn't be beaten. We loved eating on the porch and watching boats and birds with two little toddlers who also especially loved the tree swing. The neighborhood was lovely and we strollered/walked around the area a few times, even grabbing our breakfast and dinner nearby. And of course walked down to the rocky beach and did lots of splashing every day. It was a dream!
Haven for calmness, relaxation, and quintessential sunsets
Susan
For the past 5 years, we have been visiting the yellow cottage on Bailey Island which is a haven for calmness, relaxation, quintessential sunsets, quiet sleeping, cool breezes and gathering of loved ones. The cottage is in a perfect spot, where privacy is felt with your own private access to the water and front and side yards, and a wrap around porch with your own rocking chairs and porch swing. Yet, steps away you will find a quiet town beach and quaint boat marina, an amazing Lobster restaurant and the best baked goods for breakfast just over the historic bridge. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, kitchen table overlooking the water, a wonderful wall of windows, comfortable living room where you can watch the sunsets, a small but perfect all-you-need bathroom, two bedrooms with queen beds and a cozy third with a single. The cottage is all hand crafted and built with artistry. There are plenty of books and board games to keep you busy. There is also a picnic table for outdoor meals. We love being there, at the end of the world, and would recommend it to those seeking some peace and quiet away from it all.
Truly a dream
Ellen
The cottage was truly a dream. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with the salty sea air and beautiful views of Harpswell across the water. The cottage itself exudes charm and coziness. The kitchen is equipped with amenities and everything we needed for preparing meals and large porch was perfect for sipping coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening. The island itself was just what you would think a small island in Maine would be like (with the ease of being able to drive there) there were a couple restaurants/cafe near by when we didn't feel like cooking.
The cute little cabin was perfect for my wife and me. It's a snug spot where you're not expecting much privacy, but it's ideal if a quaint getaway is what you're after. I spent the days out on my kayak, and we met for lunch nearby at the Salt Cod Cafe for sandwiches and scones. Walking to dinner at Cook's and Sundrenched was amazing.
